Cotton Expertise Unit: We assist our partners in their agricultural production by providing expert guidance and innovative solutions to optimize production monitoring and enhance product quality.
At SOSEA, our commitment is to deliver high-quality services tailored to the specific needs of each partner, contributing to their success and growth.
The history of SOSEA is shaped by a bold vision and a strong determination to develop an independent cotton supply source for the French market. This ambition originated from discussions between General de Gaulle and Édouard Senn, which led to the emergence of the cotton industry in West Africa.
The Early Years and the Creation of IRCT
In 1946, this initiative gave rise to IRCT (Institute for Research on Cotton and Exotic Textiles), a center of excellence dedicated to innovation and research in the textile sector. Three years later, in 1949, CFDT (French Company for the Development of Textile Fibers) was established with the mission of promoting modern agriculture in Francophone Africa, wherever climatic conditions allowed.
The Birth of SOSEA
In 1962, COPACO, a company specialized in the marketing of cotton fiber from West Africa, split into two entities: COPACO Paris and SOSEA, based in Le Havre. SOSEA quickly established itself as a key player in the reception, grading, and transportation of cotton from the African continent.
Diversification and Expansion
From the 1970s onward, SOSEA began diversifying its activities by storing spare parts for ginning factories. In 1980, the company acquired the Sandouville warehouse, which became its main logistics hub. In 1998, all SOSEA activities were consolidated at this site, optimizing operations and strengthening logistical efficiency.
A New Era of Growth
SOSEA continued its diversification by taking over the D2E purchasing center and managing the supply of spare parts of all kinds. This expansion led to the opening of a Paris office, further strengthening the company’s presence on the national market.

Today, SOSEA is a key player in the management and distribution of products dedicated to the agro-industrial sector in Africa. Building on its heritage and expertise, the company continues to innovate and grow to meet the needs of its clients and the challenges of the industry.
